Deputy S. M. Sperbeck and Deputy M. J. Hamilton are selected as the August Enforcement Staff Members of the Month for their actions taken in the early morning hours of 08/19/2026. On this date, both deputies responded to a welfare check where a passerby caller informed communications that they observed a naked child looking over the bridge of Bethania Rural Hall Road and US 52. Upon responding, they demonstrated great care and took immediate action, ensuring the child's safety. The child was known to the deputies from past incidents as an autistic non-verbal child. Deputy Sperbeck and Deputy Hamilton observed the child walking on the concrete barrier on the far side of the safety rail of the bridge, in grave danger of falling over and onto US 52. Deputy Sperbeck and Deputy Hamilton acted quickly by grabbing hold of the child by his waist and pulling him back over the railing onto Bethania Rural Hall Rd, to safety. They then were able to usher the child back to a patrol car and called for EMS immediately to evaluate the child. Because of their quick thinking, decisive actions, and commitment to the child's safety, they prevented the child from falling off the bridge, saving his life. Due to their quick action and unwavering dedication, they were able to keep the child safe from harm.
