A cooler and drier air mass has settled over the Triad today, with morning clouds giving way to mostly sunny skies this afternoon to elevate air quality levels into the upper Code GREEN range. Dry high pressure will continue to reside over the Triad the next few days, eventually weakening by Friday as the upper-level ridge retrogrades westward. Tomorrow and Thursday should see a steady increase in ambient temperatures as conditions remain fairly dry, providing a favorable environment for ozone production that should elevate air quality levels into the low to middle Code YELLOW range. Particle pollution should also accumulate through Thursday, reaching Code YELLOW as well. Chances of rain increase Friday as surface high pressure weakens and hot and humid conditions return, leading to ozone levels to drop to Code GREEN. Particle pollution will likely remain Code YELLOW until the wind shift happens after the backdoor front passes later in the afternoon/evening. (Payne)

These data represent the hourly data set from all of the sites within this network. Data from Triad sites outside of Forsyth County are collected by the North Carolina Division of Air Quality.
